What the check looks at
The check covers the business rules of the European standard EN 16931 that cause most rejections in practice, plus the most important XRechnung and Peppol rules when they apply:
- Mandatory fields: invoice number, dates, currency, seller and buyer with address and country.
- Arithmetic: sum of the lines, allowances and charges, totals with and without VAT, amount due (rules BR-CO-10 to BR-CO-16).
- VAT: VAT per rate, taxable amounts per category, reverse charge and exemptions with a reason.
- Payment: IBAN check digits, due date or payment terms.
- XRechnung: Leitweg-ID / buyer reference, seller contact, payment instructions.
- Peppol: business process, electronic addresses of seller and buyer.
Each rule shows its official ID, such as BR-CO-15, so your software supplier or customer knows exactly what is meant.
Good to know: this is a fast plausibility check, not a certified validation with the official Schematron files. It catches the errors that matter most, but a certified validator can find more.
When is a check useful?
- Before you book a received invoice: is the amount correct and is the VAT deductible?
- Before you send your own e-invoice: will the customer's system accept it?
- When an invoice is rejected and you want to know why.

How it works
From XML code to a clear invoice in three steps
Drop the file
Drag the .xml file or the PDF onto the box, or choose it from your computer. A ZIP with several invoices works too (Pro).
Read the invoice
You see seller, buyer, lines, VAT and the amount due, laid out like a normal invoice, in your language.
Pay, print or file it
Copy the IBAN and payment reference, open embedded attachments, print the invoice or save it as PDF for your records.
Your invoices stay on your device
Invoices contain business details, bank accounts and prices. That is why Invoice Viewer reads them inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded: not to us and not to anyone else. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it still works.
We do not use tracking cookies or analytics.

Is this an official XRechnung validator?
No. It checks the most important rules quickly and privately in your browser. The official KoSIT validator for XRechnung uses the full Schematron rule set.
Why does my invoice show an IBAN error?
The check digits of the IBAN do not match. The account number is probably mistyped. Contact the sender before you pay.
Can I check many invoices at once?
Yes, with Pro. Select several files or a ZIP: you get an overview with the check result per invoice.
